Our Legacy – From Mussoorie to Rishikesh

Our journey in hospitality is a blend of family heritage and professional expertise. Both our boutique stays—The Brigadier’s Cottage, Mussoorie, and The Rampour, Rishikesh—are rooted in stories of legacy, service, and love, carried forward by us, Neetu & Aseem Varma.

The Brigadier’s Cottage, Mussoorie is a heartfelt tribute to Brigadier Surendra Varma and his charming wife Molly. Their discipline, grace, and warmth continue to inspire how we welcome every guest. Nestled in the serene hills of Mussoorie, the cottage reflects the spirit of a mountain retreat where families, friends, and even pets feel instantly at home.

The Rampour, Rishikesh draws from Aseem’s roots. His grandfather, Late Lt Col Hori Lal Varma, a distinguished Barrister-at-Law, went on to serve as the Prime Minister of the erstwhile Rampour State. Naming the hotel after Rampour is our way of honoring his intellect and leadership, while creating a boutique stay in Tapovan, Rishikesh, that blends heritage with modern comforts.

Our own professional paths add another chapter to this story. Aseem is a seasoned hotelier who worked with iconic brands such as Taj, Hyatt, and ITC Hotels, and also served as a General Manager. Neetu held a senior leadership position at MakeMyTrip, one of India’s leading travel companies. Together, we stepped away from corporate life to create boutique stays that carry the warmth of our family legacy while maintaining the professionalism of world-class hospitality.

Today, both The Brigadier’s Cottage, Mussoorie and The Rampour, Rishikesh represent more than just boutique hotels. They are living stories of heritage and heart—welcoming guests with clean, comfortable rooms, organic toiletries, delicious food, and child- & pet-friendly stays, all in locations close to nature, adventure, and cultural experiences.
